Birth Center Orientation

We would like to invite you to our "Orientation / Tour & Tea". The orientation sessions are the full three hours, so please be prepared to stay the whole time. Orientation is required for anyone interested in delivering at the birth center. Partners & Family encouraged to attend.

Care of Mother & Baby Workshop

In this 2 1/2-hour workshop, expectant parents receive practical information on how to care for a newborn and a recovering mother postpartum once home after a birth center birth. Topics discussed and/or demonstrated include: newborn appearance, methods for swaddling, diapering and soothing newborns, postpartum physical care for the mother, nutritional needs of a nursing mother, emotional adjustment, and postpartum support. Birth partners are encouraged to attend.

Breastfeeding Class

Breastfeeding a baby is simple and natural–if you know how to do it and what to expect. In this 2-hour class we give you extra information and encouragement needed to help you sucessfully breastfeed, in addition to information given during prenatal visits. Topics discussed include: benefits of breastfeeding, health benefits for mom and baby, basic anatomy and physiology of the breast, care of the nursing mother, how to read baby's cues, how to initiate breastfeeding, correct positioning and latch, problem solving, bonding with your baby and locating community resources. Birth partners are encouraged to attend.

New Sibling Class

When a new baby joins a family there is a delicate adjustment for older siblings. This class is for children 3 and up to prepare them for a new sibling. Through arts and crafts, practicing with dolls and a fun video we try and help prepare older siblings for the arrival of their new brother or sister.
